“The longer a dispute is allowed to continue without final resolution, the more time and cost the parties will likely incur and the greater probability of the disruption of their normal business activities. For these reasons responsible lawyers and their business clients have been searching for more efficient and expeditious ways to resolve their business disputes.”

The Managed Dispute Resolution Process

For the past thirteen years, Resolution Forum, Inc. (RFI), a Texas non- profit organization, has been engaged in a cooperative effort with legal, business, and professional entities to improve the efficiency of private dispute resolution services. As a result RFI has now developed a dispute resolution process called Managed Dispute Resolution or “MDR,” which should be especially appealing to those lawyers and their clients who genuinely want to resolve their disputes as quickly as possible and with a minimum expenditure of time and cost.

Key Characteristics of the MDR Process

The MDR process has several features that are similar to those found in other private dispute resolution processes such as mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law. However, the MDR process is unique in that it has one additional feature – the firm commitment of a skilled and experienced “MDR Manager” to help the parties avoid the expenditure of unnecessary time and cost in the resolution of their dispute.
